The Eldership, together with the Senior Pastors, are the Spiritual Leadership of the Church.

The purpose of the Eldership is to fulfil its responsibilities under God in union with the Senior Pastor.
The responsibility of an Eldership, as described in the Bible, is essentially focused on two areas of ministry to the church: leading and feeding.
Leading: When Jesus saw the congregation, He had compassion for them because they were harassed, tired and directionless, like sheep without a shepherd (Mt 9:36, Mk 6:34). Jesus alluded to Moses’ plea, “Let the LORD… set a man over the congregation, who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd” (Nu 27:16-17).
Feeding: The motivation for shepherding in the gospel passages (esp. Mt 9:36, Mk 6:34), is characterised by a compassion for God’s people, a perception of their true needs and an active response. Jesus the Great Shepherd, before laying down His life for His sheep, commissioned Peter to feed His sheep. As the work grew, Peter delegated this responsibility to under-shepherds: the church elders (Jn 21:15-17, 1 Pe 5:2-3). Shepherd/pastor (poimen), elder (presbyteros) and bishop/overseer (episkopos) appear interchangeable terms in the Bible (Ac 20:17, 28).
